Problem:
Customer was building a new bulk plant and required controls and hardware to simplify the operation.
Controls Solution:
Desna controls installed a control panel that used 4 main systems (sand blending, cement blending, additive blending and acid blending) and integrated them into a single simple universal control console allowing the operator to easily monitor and operate all the separate devices with the touch of a stylus. This allowed for uniform tickets due to the central ticketing and reporting featured in the control system.

- Single operator can run entire plant.
- Accurate reports for accounting, management and QC
- Complete monitoring of entire plant much safer for operators.
- Dangerous (explosion proof / toxic dust) areas are controlled by the system allowing operators to stay out of those areas.
Sand Dispensing Solution:
The sand dispensing system has a central truck scale along with chutes and valves to fill a truck. Desna automated the valves to fill the truck on the scale with a required blend. Chutes were designed to automatically raise and lower above the truck to direct the sand into a specific area of the truck.

- Speed – system automatically and accurately fills the trucks

Acid Blending Solution:
A system was designed to allow dangerous chemicals to be filled into a waiting truck. Desna built the system in house and delivered it as a turn key acid blending and dispensing system. Due to the nature of the chemicals the system was designed to conform with the explosion proof environment. Flush waters were also used to prevent chemicals from reacting with each other in the plumbing of the system. Each ingredient was accurately metered and saved to the database for future reference.

- Quickly and accurately fills trucks with exact recipes designed by the customer.
Additive Blending Solution:
This system was also built by Desna in house and delivered as a turn key dispensing system. The additives all had characteristics that were unique and the system needed to be designed to accommodate a variety of different chemicals. The system was constructed of Stainless Steel for ease of cleaning and maintenance. The totes were designed to be easily removed by a fork lift so they could be quickly re-filled and placed back in service. The system was able to keep the dangerous dust down generated by pouring bags into the blending system.

Cement Blending Solution:
A large control system designed to monitor and blend cement products. The system included controls hardware and monitoring systems of the entire blending process. It tied into the Additive Blending System (which dumps into one of the cement silos) and quickly and seamlessly mixed all the ingredients and filled them into the truck.
Advantages:
- Reporting for all ingredients blended into the truck
- Consistency – accurately blended cements ensuring number of blend transfers were always completed (product was thoroughly mixed as specified by the customer)
- Pressure monitoring system ensured that vessel failure (explosion) due to overpressure is minimized.
